“I like it in the Marvel comics when Spider-Man fights Morbius,” said Raimi. “He’s really cool. A vampire! I like that combination of superhero plus supernatural.”

This could be interesting, or it could be a bit of a letdown. Everyone’s seen the Underworld movies and Twilight which really aren’t that interesting. In the comics I always thought Morbius was more of a creation for Blade rather than Spider-Man. It would be interesting in that both characters used the same technology but different animals in their research.

Hopefully they finally have the Lizard in Spider-Man 4.

The team at Marvel comics, always keenly keeping an eye out for a cash-in chance to demonstrate altruistic patriotism, have rolled out a commemorative issue of Spiderman with Barack Obama on the cover and six-page special story.  Here’s the cover:

The story revolves around mild-mannered photographer Peter Parker spotting two Obamas on inauguration day. He *spoiler alert* transforms into Spiderman. Can he pick the REAL Obama and save the day? At the risk of giving away the ending, yes. Yes he can.
